Why so defensive?

In the past month, our Collier County school district has been run through the mud. The problem is “we” are the ones who have done it.
This process we have just experienced has been handled poorly, to say the least.
Ray Baker was fired as superintendent without any due process, then he was replaced without any search.
Dennis Thompson may be excellent. At this point we all need to hope that is the case. That being said, the process was still in severe error!
Florida is known for two kinds of sunshine. One has been shining brightly in the summer heat. The other appears to be mighty shady!
I was taught as a child that if I were honest the facts would support me, so I had no reason to be defensive. It appears some School Board members are getting rather defensive! Defending yourself and being defensive are two totally different behaviors!
