Not top banana
Editor, Daily News:
Kevin J. Lindheim’s description of the July 31 [2007] School Board meeting as a “live” remake of a classic Three Stooges episode is right on.
It would have been funny if it weren’t so tragic and potentially costly to the people of Collier County.
As a former expatriate, I have been on school boards in Mexico and Brazil, so-called emerging market countries, but I have never witnessed such an unprofessional and undignified performance, in addition to the board’s complete disregard of public opinion.
Perhaps Collier County should be renamed the Banana Republic of Southwest Florida.
Also, the Daily News should exercise more diligence in endorsing candidates for elected public office. The public deserves better.
Dennis Thompson should review the tape of this meeting before he considers the superintendent’s position. The tree limb is very short in Collier County.
