Not at all like Ike
Editor, Daily News:
I feel it is my responsibility, as a concerned student, to speak out for myself, my peers and the future of our education.
The dismissal of superintendent Ray Baker has brought to my attention the injustice displayed by the Collier County School Board. If the board ignored the opinions of faculty members as well as parents, then who, in the end, benefits?
Certainly not the students. The unjust termination of Baker will only result in a chaotic start to the new school year, which is not in the best interest of students or teachers. In my opinion, Baker should not have been fired.
In any case, the way in which his termination took place only teaches me and my peers that democracy in the school system is not being served.
“You do not lead by hitting people over the head. That’s assault, not leadership.” So said Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Consider that, School Board members.
